New Century Initiative Kicks Off Campaign Against Drug and Substance Abuse In Enugu State.

New Century Initiative (NCI), organized a sensitization against drugs and other substance abuse in a school in Akpoga Nike, in Enugu East Local Government Area in Enugu State, with a view to help the students understand the possible damages abuse of drugs can cause to their health and future.

According to the UNODC 2018 survey, it recorded that Enugu state has 370,000 drug abusers and in line with the national survey, it was estimated that out of every four drug abusers, there is a female involved.

However, there is a new trend to this drug abuse and addiction, especially the new wave of a substance called "Crystal Meth or Mkpuru Mmiri". This drug has gained popularity owing to its level of damages to the youth, causing death, abnormal behaviours, and violence.

Different communities across Southeastern Nigeria are mobilizing forces to quench and control the level at which this drug is rampaging the society.

We look forward to more partnership/ collaboration with relevant government institutions, communities and organizations to join in taking actions against drugs and substance abuse in our society.
