Social Development is our watch word

YOUTH LEADERSHIP SEMINAR AND CAPACITY BUILDING

YOUTH LEADERSHIP SEMINAR AND CAPACITY BUILDINGTOPIC: THE CHALLENGES AND THE WAY OUT.
ORGANIZED BY: NEW CWNTURY INITIATIVE
VENUE: ACE FOUNDATION BUILDING COALCITY GARDEN ESTATE ENUGU.
June 7, 2014
PRESENTATION BY NEBO OBINNA COLLINS
Over the years, the African continent has been flooded with many challenges especially the challenges facing the youth who are the leaders of today. It has been so worrisome that many youth charters, youth policies and youth declarations have been drafted but hardly find any being fully implemented. It is equally challenging that many of our youth cannot define who a youth is talk less of having a copy of the African Youth Charter and Nigeria Youth policy. In this day, I wish we can learn our roles and responsibilities as youth of this nation in order to participate effectively.
Coming to Enugu state, the level and the way youth are participating in the social affairs is not encouraging owing to some factors which include:
  1. Failed student movements which supposed to be a training ground for the youth, has now become a platform for political mobilization.
  2. Lack of capacity and awareness have turned most of our youth into vipers in the hands of the ruling class who can use them to strike their enemies anytime they want.
  3. Lack of right ideology has made a grown-up youth to speak without purpose and vision. For instance, I’ve encountered a group of youth whose sole aim is to make money which is beautiful but they have no concrete plan on how to make this money, no foundation. I asked how do you want to make this millions. They responded anyhow….. Lol! Please where in the world can anyhow be used as a source of income or career? Enugu state is a coal city state, why can’t those who studied engineering think of alternative way to electricity or even use the biotechnical means? It’s simply because they lack capacity.
I challenge the young people of this noble state to be steadfast in reasoning and reason critically in order to push forward. It is never an easy task but I believe the little we contribute shall go a very long way in helping us. There many opportunities we can use to stir-up our dreams but we must have the right mindset before we excel.

EBOLA OUTBREAK

www.obinnacollinsnebo.wordpress.com
Kindly make use of this information:
US STATE DEPARTMENT EBOLA ALERT
In order to help our Embassy Community better understand some of the key points about the Ebola virus we have consulted with our medical specialists at the U S State Department and assembled this list of bullet points worded in plain language for easy comprehension. Our medical specialists remind everyone that they should be following the guideline from the center for Disease Control and the World Health Organisation.
• The suspected reservoirs for Ebola are fruit bats.
• Transmission to humans is thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats.
• Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans.
• Human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from the Ebola virus or their body fluids.
• Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill.
• The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying. A washing machine will kill the virus in clothing saturated with infected body fluids.
• A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill. THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill.
• Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and then in other bodily fluids (to include vomit, feces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat).
• If you are walking around you are not infectious to others.
• There are documented cases from Kikwit, DRC of an Ebola outbreak in a village that had the custom of children never touching an ill adult. Children living for days in small one room huts with parents who died from Ebola did not become infected.
• You cannot contract Ebola by handling money, buying local bread or swimming in a pool.
• There is no medical reason to stop flights, close borders, restrict travel or close embassies, businesses or schools.
• As always practice good hand washing techniques, but you will not contract Ebola if you do not touch a dying person.
• US EMBASSY
Please share this information with your friends and families and try not to spread panic on social media.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP SEMINAR AND CAPACITY BUILDING ENUGU STATE 2014
A MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH PRESENTED BY NEBO OBINNA COLLINS: “NO BETTER TIME THAN NOW”
ORGANIZED BY: NEW CENTURY INITIATIVE (NCI)
I send out my greetings to noble men and women of this gathering.
I send out my greetings to the man who bought into the dream that brought us together this day.
I send out my greetings to those who sacrificed all they have got to do this day just to witness event.
I send out my greetings to the maker of mankind.
It has been a dream to see every one of us gathered here today in this place, under the roof of a man who has the desire to see you become great.
There is no better time than now we shall all sit back and think on the kind of life we’re living as a youth of this nation.
There is no better time than now we shall seek a direction for our lives.
There is no better time than now we shall say NO to unemployment and begging attitude.
There is no better time than now we shall get involved in our national, state and local government affairs.
There is no better time than no we shall see the potentials in us to put our resources together and become self dependent.
There is no better time than now we consolidate in one frontier to decide how our state affairs shall be administered but no in a violence way.
There is no better time than now we forget the big names and think of what we can do with our own names.
There is no better time than now we say that I shall no longer wait for government to decide when I get employed.
There is no better time than now you shall ask yourself where can I start developing myself.
There is no better time than now you shall ask yourself what the future of this nation is like for my children.

THE LONG AWAITED TIME IS NOW!!!!

EMERGENCY!!!!!
Local roads in my village are far more better than the Enugu-Onitsha federal road. Where's the federal ministry of works? From flyover Agu-abor to Awka is a death trap. The most annoying is that sand has covered-up a lane from the petrol filling station beside Ekochin hospital to the road leading to Eziagu passing through 9th-mile under flyover. Is that one part of dividend of democracy? This is the one I can see ooo... There are many more I guess. Hmm! Leadership!!
